The Importance of Art- What is it?

I've been wondering about this question for a long time. It's a question that has no definite answer, because the answer is whatever the individual artist wants it to be.I mean we do art, we paint, draw, sculpt, but do we ever think why? I typed it in Google- 'the importance of art', and so many suggestions came up. And I opened most of them, but none of them hit the spot.I'm gonna quote some of what people are saying in the internet.

"
  • Art encourages kids to express themselves
  • Kids develop many academic skills
  • Make art activities a part of every day."   - aplaceofourown.org

"Art is important because it encompasses all the developmental domains in child development"- aplaceofourown.org

"It is difficult to describe “Art” in literal terms, but broadly it is understood to be a form to express one’s feelings through any object or medium like paper, music, colours, technology, magic, photography etc" -tamaram.com

"From visual arts to literature and music to dramatic performance, the arts exert a powerful influence on societal development. Artists often challenge commonly held perspectives with innovative thinking. They raise awareness about social issues, break down barriers to cross-cultural understanding and global dialogue, and inspire creative ideas"- weforum.org.

There are many more examples but I did not want to bore you with quotes. I read all of these, and I felt that none of them described 'art'. They described the concept of art and why art is important- according to them. But do you not feel that these description seem clinical and scientific, rather than really saying what it is. I suppose to really find the importance of art is to ask yourself, Art is as important as you make it.

. "To some people art is very important, to others it is nothing. To most, it is nice, but fades besides the everyday problems of physical survival, housing, food, money, children, etc.
As far as I can see, the value boils down to what you think you are"

This is a quote from whatmeart.com, I think what they are saying is quite fitting. It's kind of what I'm saying. Anyway you are probably wondering what the point of the post it- Well here is a question,

What does art mean to you, and why do you think it is important?

We would love to hear your opinion.
